THE IMPORTANCE OF KNOWLEDGE IN THE WORLD TODAY

It is not a new thing to the world that the acquisition of knowledge is very important in all situations we find ourselves. Without knowledge, the world cannot develop. This shows that the development of a state, nation or any society we find ourselves depends on the existence of individuals who have knowledge. Let examine the case of a developed nation like United States of America (USA), its development is linked to the existence of knowledgeable individuals who established a Iot of technological facilities and equipments that makes life easy and comfortable for the citizens such as automobiles, gadgets and appliances e.t.c.
Also in a developed nation like US, there is presence of a Word Satellite that serves as a platform for the security and defence of Americans against external enemies. And over the years, US has remained undefeated in most wars with external enemies as a result of the creation and existence of the word satellite especially during the Second World War.
Also in Israel, research has made us know that despite the fact that the country is a landlocked nation, they obtain water from the atmosphere. Also they established a technology for missile control which helps them in deactivating and detecting any missile launched into the country. This is because of the fact that the country has the people who have those knowledge.
In China, machineries, automobiles, aircrafts and a lot of world most used facilities and equipments are manufactured over there. How did it achieve this? This was achieved by sponsoring some of its citizens abroad on scholarships to go and learn. And at the end of their programmes, they come back to their country to practise what they have learnt.
The same thing applies to Japan and other nations in Europe like France, Germany.
Apart from the manufacturing and development of facilities and problems by these countries, they also make use of their educated elites in solving their economic and political problems such as inflation, unemployment e.t.c most especially during the period of economic recession.
The fact is that developed nations in the world today became successful with the application of the knowledge acquired and possessed by some of their citizens.
An important thing about knowledge acquired is the practicability. Knowledge acquired without been practised is regarded as an ordinary theory and it is useless if it cannot make positive impact on the lives of people. This is similar to the quote made by Karl Max which states : Theory without practice is barren and practice without theory is blind.
Also according to Bertrand Russell, knowledge must be acquired for the betterment of the world.
