Former Military President Gen. Ibrahim Babangida Sets To Give His Daughter Out For Marriage.

Ex-- military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida will on Friday in Minna, Niger State give out his last daughter, Halimat, in marriage. The wedding is taking place amidst concerns over the General’s health. He recently returned from Germany, where he sought some medical help.Since then, he has kept off from public functions.  Halimat is the second daughter and last child of the family. She was born by his late wife Maryam while the military ruler presided over the affairs of the country at Dodan Barracks in Lagos. Babangida ruled from Lagos between August 1985 until 1991 when he shifted the seat of government to Abuja. The groom is Alhaji Auwal Lawal Abdullahi, who holds the traditional title of Sarkin Sudan Gombe. He is a businessman. 5500 Nigerians Set To Be Deported From Libya And Mali.

A total number of 5,500 Nigerians are set to  be deported from Mali and Libya, over various migration offences ranging from Human trafficking, smuggling of migrants, and the possession of invalid travel documents. The first batch of 250 Nigerians from Libya will arrive the country today. An additional batch of 250 Nigerians  would also be deported from same countries next week . Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons , NAPTIP Julie Okah-Donli, made this statement yesterday, during her maiden visit at the agency’s zonal command in Lagos. She explained that 5000 Nigerians, mainly victims of human trafficking, will be evacuated from Mali. Okah- Donli who described the trend of deportation of Nigerians from different parts  of the world in recent time as frightening, called for the need to change the tide by providing an attractive  environment that would keep people gainfully employed. Herdsmen attacks: Be prepared for war – CAN tells Nigerian governmen The President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Olasupo Ayokunle, has called on the Federal Government to prosecute some herdsmen arrested in connection with recent killings in Southern Kaduna and Benue State, stressing that it should be prepared for war if it failed to act. He stressed that it is only when the suspects are made to face the wrath of the law that tension that had risen in the two states would reduce. Ayokunle, who is also the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), warned that failure to stop the unprovoked killings by suspected herdsmen in some parts of the country could spark war in the country. Amaechi Gets Defeated At Appeal Court In Rivers State.

PORT HAR-COURT— MINISTER of Transportation, Mr Chibuike Amaechi, yesterday,was defeated at the Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as the court upheld the judgment of the state ‘s High Court, which threw out his suit challenging the constitution of a Judicial Commission  of Enquiry to probe the sale of valued assets when he was governor of the state. It will be recalled that on assumption of office,  Governor Nyesom Wike had constituted a committee to probe the sale of valued  assets  of the state by Amaechi while he was governor of the state.
