The Road From Campus To Corporate.

It is no longer a new thing that when students move out of their various universities and polytechnics, they will be a seeking for jobs. But some set of students will decide to own their own business. But the question is, how do they cope with the kind of situations they find themselves in their various workplaces? Are the workplaces the same as the tertiary institutions? The answer to it is NO. Because what they expect from them in the labour market is quite different from their expectations in the higher institutions. It is very displeasing today that a lot of extraordinary brilliant students later end up becoming unemployed. The reason is that some of them do not possess extracurricular skills, talents and all other requirements that can make them employable, that is, the fact is that these students are not employable. And this will let us know the fact that we have four types of students/graduates. 1. Brilliant & Intelligent Students. 2. Brilliant but not Intelligent Studen...

The Diversification of The Nigerian Economy Back to Agriculture As A Solution to Nigeria's Economic Problem.

Image
Economy diversification; Agriculture a way out/wdn.com.ng There is no doubt that petroleum (crude oil) has contributed substantially to Nigerian revenue since its discovery in 1956 and more especially, since 1970 when its price was on the upward trend. However, it is a known fact across the globe that for a country to attain growth and development, its economy has to be diversified and that cannot occur in a vacuum. Mono-economy needs to give way to the productive development of various sectors of the economy. Following the sudden fall in the price of oil by more than 50% since June 2014 when it was $115 a barrel, which now is below $45, after five years of stability, it is a well-known fact that Nigeria’s continuous large earnings or revenue from this sector will be impossible. As a matter of fact, there is an urgent need for the Nigerian government to begin to look into diversification of various sectors of the economy so as to attain solid economic growth. St...

An Examination of Anti -Corruption In Nigeria---- Issues and Challenges.

Corruption has continued to hinder the development of Nigeria, and as a matter of fact, has frustrated the realization of the noble national goals of this country, despite the abundant natural and human resources God has blessed us with. Several years ago, the successive governments we've had put in place various measures, polices and programmes geared towards eradicating corruption in Nigeria. The most significant of these measures are Murtala/Obasanjo's Jaji Declaration of the 1970s, Shagari's Ethical Revolution of 1981 and the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) by Buhari/Idiagbon's administration in 1984. In 1986, General Ibrahim Babangida established the National Orientation Movement and Abacha's administration set up War Against Indiscipline and Corruption (WAI-C). However, all the anti-corruption initiatives during the military era did not yield any positive change(Aderounmu 2009). In a similar vein, when Obasanjo came to power in 1999, he told Nigerians that cor...
