Prospective Economic Development Of Ibeju-lekki, Lagos.

 Ibeju-lekki is an area in Lagos State, located around the Lekki-Epe Expressway. 

It is also the local government area of Lekki. It's 35.4 kilometers from Ajah and 35.6 kilometers to Epe.


It's the fastest growing area in Lagos as a result of some fantastic developmental projects that are ongoing there, thus making it the future mega city of Lagos.


It's one of the best area for commercial activities and business investment in Lagos.


These are the following ongoing projects and tourist attractions in the area:


1. Lekki Free Trade Zone: The foundation of this project started during the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos in  2006 and was completed by the Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, also the immediate past governor of Lagos in 2019.


It has attracted a lot of foreign investment into Lagos and a very good example is the $50million Longrich Manufacturing Plant.

The project also houses the Dangote Refinery. Companies at the Free Trade Zone will enjoy a tax free incentive as business activities continue there.

2. Lekki Deep Seaport: It is predicted to be the largest Seaport in Nigeria. This will reduce the burden and  delay of  clearing containers of goods at the Apapa Seaport and traffic congestion around the Apapa Wharf.



3. Lekki International Airport.




4. Dangote Refinery: This will be the 6th largest oil refinery in Africa. It covers 2,635 hectares of land at the Lekki Free Trade Zone. It's predicted to begin operations by 2021 and also it will improve the rate of refined oil production in Nigeria by reducing oil importation.

It is predicted to produce 650,000 barrels of refined oil daily.


5. Dangote Jetty: This is where Dangote's ships are kept. It's few kilometres to his refinery.


6. Awolowo Museum


7. La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort: If you are a resident of Ibeju-lekki, this is one of the cool and recreational centre you can visit to relax. 

And with this, congratulations to those who have purchased lands to build houses there. It's few minutes drive to the estates in that area.



8. Lekki Golf Resort.







All these mighty projects and tourist attractions had driven a lot of investments to the area, especially real Estate Developments.

This is because the President of Dangote Group is already making provisions for his staff accomodations and many people are also taking that opportunity to purchase lands at cheap prices before value increases.


Ibeju-lekki is predicted to provide more than 10,000 direct jobs to people within and outside lagos and over 100,000 indirect jobs to people within the area.

It will also improve the revenue generation for the Lagos State Government and will make Lagos a super mega city.
