RESIDENTS OF A COMMUNITY IN RIVERS STATE COMPLAIN OF FLOODING AND HOLD COMPANIES IN THE COMMUNITY RESPONSIBLE.

AGGAH- PRIOR to the arrival of Nigerian Agip--oil Company, NAOC PLC in the rural Aggah clan in Ogba/Egbema/Ndemi Local Government Area in Rivers State in the 60s, to carry out oil exploration activities. The people especially, the farmers and fishermen, lived in peace despite the nature of their landscape, they had no fear of being submerged by flood because the water channel to Oloshi river is open.
But since the establishment of multinational oil companies, oil has turned out to be a curse to the people in the area as a result of the construction of oil locations along and across the normal water course.
The people are complaining that the company which is aware that its activities had impacted negatively on them paid no attention to their dissatisfaction and would like President Muhammadu Buhari, the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, National Assembly, National Emergency and Maintenance Agency(NEMA) to intervene into the issue.
