Business Opportunities in Agriculture.

Agriculture as a sector in Nigeria's economy plays a significant role in rehabilitating the economy. The most important roles of agriculture are to feed the nation and thus saving it from hunger. It's also create employment opportunities to both entrepreneurs and workers in agricultural enterprises and agro allied industries.
The following are the business opportunities in agriculture:

1. Crop Plantation: Since this is a major practise in agriculture, it thrives so well, because no matter the the case maybe everybody depend on plant products to survive especially for food and clothing.
As the case may be, not everyone eats animal products and example of such people are vegetarians. So in this case, crop plantation/production cannot be undermined anywhere in the world, most especially in Nigeria.
Products of this business include arable crops, cash crops etc.

2. Cattle Rearing: This is common among the Northerners in Nigeria. This involves the rearing of cows, bulls, and also sheep, rams and goats. The economic importance of this agricultural business include; production of food (meat and milk), hides and leathers for producing shoes, bags and belts.

3. Poultry: This is one of the agribusiness that is very to start. Because starting the business can be done with a little capital. The animals include hens, cockerels, turkeys etc.

4. Snail Rearing: This is also easy to start with a little capital. It involves keeping of snails. The cost of keeping snails is very cheap compared to poultry. And it's a very good business to those who know their importance and can manage them well.

5. Floriculture: This business also thrives well especially in estates, because it involves production of ornamental plants that beautify the environment.
In Lagos, this business will thrive so well in Lekki, Victoria Island and Banana Island.
In Ibadan, it will thrive so well in Challenge, Ring Road, Akobo etc.

6. Bee keeping: This involves keeping of bees for the production of honey. This business can be managed  by those who can withstand being stung by bees, because there is no how the bee keeper can escape stings of bees.

7. Exportation of Agric products: This is the most profitable business of agriculture. Agric products like cocoa, groundnut, grain crops, rubber, coffee, palm oil and other crop products.
Animal products such as meat, milk, cheese etc. can also be exported to other nations.
This business solves employment opportunities, provides income to the dealers and also foreign exchange earnings to the government.

Agriculture is a very good business, but the issue is that those who are interred to practise and those who are practising are limited. This is because people nowadays especially the youths are interested in getting white collar jobs. Only a few are interested in going to the farm.
And this is a factor affecting Nigeria's economy, because majority of the food products we consume, are imported into the country. This leads to inflation of prices of food products in the markets.
The Government should also put necessary efforts in improving the sector, so as to ensure the growth and development of the economy.
