Facts And Differences Between MSSN OAU & MSSN OAU Branch.

It is no longer news that over the years, there had MSSN crisis in Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). And as a result of that,  a lot of people especially the Muslim students on OAU campus are thrown into confusion especially on the existence of two arms of MSSN OAU, one tagged MSSN OAU and the other known as MSSN OAU branch. But it is known to majority that MSSN OAU belongs to brothers at the level of Awolowo & Fajuyi Halls of Residences and other is the recently established one.
Another question which had brought  confusion in the minds of students especially the fresh Muslim students on campus is that which one of them is real association. Based on the facts collated from some people , individuals and particularly the Muslim community, it was understood that the real and true association is the MSSN OAU branch. And the following are some of the strong evidences and facts :
1. MSSN OAU are registered and recognized only at the level of the  Awolowo hall of residence but MSSN OAU branch are registered and recognized at the state, zonal and national level.
2. MSSN OAU's executive council only comprises of Muslim brothers who claim to be ahlu sunna/ salafi only but MSSN OAU branch set of executive council comprises of all Muslim brothers regardless of what they belong to.
3. MSSN OAU organises a kind of programme every second semester called the Islamic Awareness Programme (IAP) while MSSN OAU branch has the same kind but with a different name called "Jihad Week" and that is the popular name in all institutions with registered and recognized MSSN.
4. Every year MSSN OAU branch attends a general programme known as Islamic Vacation Course ( IVC) organized at the national level and it is attended by all institutions with registered and recognized MSSN but MSSN OAU at the level of Awolowo brothers have their own program known as Holiday Islamic Course (HIC).
5. When MSSN OAU at the level of Awolowo hall brothers organizes it programmes especially IAP, it is difficult to see MSSN from other institutions to attend even OAU Muslim lecturers but MSSN OAU branch will have the MSSN from other institutions and OAU Muslim lecturers as important guests in their programmes especially Jihad Week.
6. MSSN OAU lacks the support of the OAU Muslim community but MSSN OAU branch has the full support of the Muslim community.

This article is published so as to give a clear understanding of the situation on ground to those who have doubt minds regarding the existence of the real MSSN on campus. It is not published to create enmity and confusion in the minds of Muslim students. May Allah soften our hearts towards each other and let peace and unity reign in the Muslim Ummah.
